Spring Conference

Every year CESBA holds two provincial conferences, allowing members (and others) to get together to network, learn and discuss issues of interest to adult and continuing education administrators. The first conference is generally held in the late spring. It runs for two days with a pre-conference day including workshop sessions for specific program areas.

The CESBA Spring Conference 2009

2009 Spring Conference

The CESBA Spring 2009 conference was held at the Courtyard by Marriott Hotel on Thursday and Friday, April 23 & 24, with the Pre-Conference Day on Wednesday, April 22. As in the past, there were 8 networking sessions and 30 workshops on Thursday and Friday.

Thursday’s keynote speaker was Eleanor Newman, Director of the Renfrew County DSB. On Friday, the keynote speaker on Friday was the Hon. David C. Onley, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario.

This year’s conference theme was Celebrating our Past, Building for our Future. As the theme implied, this Spring Conference celebrated 10 years as an incorporated non-profit – though CESBA existed for many years previous, it was only in April 1999 that it officially incorporated.

To help celebrate the occasion, there was a banquet held in the evening for all Thursday conference participants. The guest speaker was Canadian Senator Vivienne Poy. Many of those involved in CESBA over the past ten years joined us for the evening’s festivities.
